USA Deaf Sports Federation is committed to ensuring that all Deaf and Hard of Hearing athletes have equal access and opportunities to participate in events in a manner that is fair to all competitors while preserving the integrity of the sport and respecting international competition guidelines set forth by the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD). Members may have the opportunity to represent the United States and participate in international competition. They may therefore be subject to the policies and regulations of the ICSD and International Governing Bodies.
USA Deaf Sports Federation therefore follows the ICSD guidelines on transgender athletes. For purposes of this policy, international competition means competition sanctioned by the ICSD and/or International Governing Bodies.
It is the responsibility of athletes to be aware of current WADA/USADA policies and file for appropriate therapeutic use exemptions. Compliance with these conditions may be monitored by random or for-cause testing. In the event of non-compliance, the athlete’s eligibility may be suspended.
